A senator is accused of drugging a deputy without her knowledge. He was placed in police custody on Wednesday November 15 after filing a complaint. The chosen one would have felt unwell after having had a drink in his company.

A senator has been taken into custody on suspicion of having drugged a deputy in an attempt to abuse her. Since Wednesday November 15, Joël Guerriau, 66, has had to answer questions from the judicial police. The acts with which he is accused allegedly took place Tuesday evening in his Parisian home, not far from the Senate. The alleged victim has been a member of the presidential majority since 2017. To investigators, she indicated that she felt ill during an evening with the senator.

Ecstasy found in blood of alleged victim

At the hospital, ecstasy was found in his blood, then during a search of Joël Guerriau’s house. The senator denies any attempt at poisoning and mentions accidental absorption while they were drinking a drink. The subject will be discussed on Saturday at the political office of the Horizons party, to which Joël Guerriau belongs. “He cannot stay in the party if there is the slightest doubt about the veracity of all this”, declared Christophe Béchu, secretary general of the party, to France Inter. Joël Guerriau could be referred to the Paris prosecutor’s office during the day on Friday. He risks 5 years of imprisonment and a fine of 75,000 euros.
