Expo Stranger Than Kindness by Nick Cave

This French classic by Edith Piaf, covered by the great Nick Cave? We are curious. We listen… and it works! First heard with only piano, the broken voice of the great Australian is accompanied halfway through by happy notes of saxophone and synthesizer, courtesy of two members of the group Bleachers, who came to join him in the studio. This luminous ballad is one of the pieces heard in the series The New Look, broadcast on Apple TV+ for a few days and which traces the destinies of Christian Dior and Gabrielle Coco Chanel in Paris in the 1940s. The creation of the soundtrack was entrusted to Jack Antonoff, director, of course, and singer of the group… Bleachers . We find big names on the soundtrack: Florence and the Machine, the group 1975, Lana Del Rey, Perfume Genius… Listen to it!

Marie-Mai

More than five years later She and Iher previous album released in November 2018, Marie-Mai announced on Friday her big return on record with a new song entitled Black on black. After a detour towards electro-pop, the singer-songwriter clearly makes a return to pop-rock sources, which has fit her like a glove since her beginnings. As she always knew how to do so well, the words are close to a diary: Marie-Mai reveals hidden wounds, but with a touch of light which appears at the end of the piece. There is no specific date revealed yet, but the singer’s new album will be released in fall 2024.

Daran

His last album was live recorded in Montreal and released in 2018. His last “real”, Endorphin, appeared a year earlier. In short, it’s been a while since Daran last uttered his magnificent, hoarse voice. This ballad is typified in the style that has given it so many admirers: soft opening, rising, calm voice, then thrust… Your image everywherewhich deals with the end of a romantic relationship, is the first extract from an album that we no longer expected, Grand Hotel Apocalypse, which will come to us later this year. We have the impression that Daran’s return will be big.
