A security guard at the A69 motorway construction site in Saïx (Tarn) was attacked on Sunday morning, August 25 with “an iron tool” by three hooded people who broke in, France Bleu Occitanie learned from the Castres prosecutor’s office. An intercommunal police car also caught fire while intervening following damage to the A69 construction site in Saixnear the ZAD la Cal’arbre.
An investigation into aggravated violence has been opened by the public prosecutor’s office. The security guard was questioned by investigators on Sunday afternoon. According to the concession company Atosca, which is leading the future Toulouse-Castres motorway project, the employee has filed a complaint, reports France Bleu Occitanie.
Activists opposed to the A69 motorway entered the construction site on Saturday evening and Sunday morning and damaged a prefabricated building. A bridge pier under construction had already been set on fire by a group of hooded people on the night of Thursday to Friday, destroying a month’s work, according to the builder NGE.
As a reminder, the A69 motorway project between Castres and Toulouse is not unanimous. Several environmental associations have been fighting against this project for several months.
