Section Paloise finishes second in La Rochelle

The Section Paloise almost repeated the blow to Perpignan… but finally lost in the final. For the second summer stage of the Supersevens, the French rugby sevens championship, the Béarnais were largely beaten by Monaco (26-12), unfortunate finalist last week already against Pau. Despite rotations in the workforce, Lekima Tagitagivalu’s injury in the quarter-finals and the absence of the usual manager Geoffrey Lanne-Petit, the Section has once again shown that it makes this Supersevens a real objective. It will be the big favorite for the third and final stage of the summer, next Saturday at Le Hameau.

The Béarnais extinguished in the final

For the first time in 8 games, the Section did not find the solution against Monaco, in particular because of a detrimental indiscipline. Eoghan Barrett and Matthieu Piperol scored the Pau tries in the final. A final that the Section almost did not play, heckled until the last seconds by the Barbarians in the semi-final. It took a try from Despérès after the siren to finally win 33-28. Before that, thethe Béarnais passed the first two rounds fairly quietlyfirst against Clermont (34-7), then La Rochelle (29-12).

In the absence of Aminiasi Tuimaba and with the injury of Lekima Tagitagivalu, the youngsters took over perfectly in the wake of the innkeepers Rayne Barka and Thomas Carol. Josselin Bouhier shone throughout the daywhile Eoghan Barrett, for his first in Supersevens this season, showed all his qualities of speed.
