The Secours populaire is organizing a day for those forgotten by the holidays on Wednesday, August 21, by taking 3,000 children who were unable to go away this summer to Deauville, in Calvados.

With their backpacks and blue Secours Populaire caps, the children got up very early on Wednesday 21 August before heading to the seaside in Deauville (Calvados). For the very first time, little Brooklyn, aged six, is going to discover the beach. “I’m happy, at least she’ll get out a bit, it’ll do her good to go to the beach”confides the little girl’s mother. From Île-de-France, the bus reaches the Normandy coast in two hours.

With a musical welcome, the children are eager to face the waves. Even if the water is cold, they have fun. “It’s so good!” enthuses a little girl as she runs into the water. Four out of ten French people never go on holiday, but the Secours populaire offered this day of happiness to 3,500 children. “We offer them the opportunity to have holiday memories,” assures Aude Hussenet-Leclerc, volunteer.
