The second-hand clothing resale platform Vinted will cease its activities in Canada. The Lithuanian company, present in several countries, made the announcement in an email sent to its Canadian members Monday morning.


“We are sorry to inform you that as of February 12, 2024 Vinted will no longer be available in Canada,” the message states. In 2021, we launched Vinted in Canada using a different technical platform than that used in other countries. Unfortunately, it has proven too difficult to maintain the standards of experience we want to provide to our members around the world. »

“Operating a separate platform was neither viable nor efficient,” Vinted spokesperson Guen de Mello said by email.. After careful consideration, we have decided to discontinue this platform, meaning we are withdrawing from the Canadian market for now. This allows us to focus on providing the best possible experience to our members in the other markets where we operate. »

Although the platform will not officially cease operations until February, new registrations are already no longer possible. Starting January 12, it will only be accessible to complete current orders and settle payments. Users will no longer be able to buy, sell, list or favorite items. Additionally, it will not be possible to make or accept offers or follow members.

The platform will be closed on February 12 and all functions will then no longer be offered. Users have until this date to complete their current transactions. Afterwards, you will need to communicate with the support team to complete the remaining actions on the platform.

With the mission of “making second-hand fashion the first choice in the world”, Vinted allows the sale of clothing between individuals from one end of Canada to the other. Over the years, some organizations and academics have denounced the professionalization of certain users on the platform, which fuels the fashion cycle and ultimately stimulates the new market.

Vinted did not specify how many users its platform has in Canada.
