Sébastien Delorme’s virtual nightmare

“Go ahead and file a complaint and it won’t change my asshole. I’ll hit you where it hurts. I go face-to-face with you and you’re dead, I guarantee it. I hope something serious will happen to you on the bike and that you will die there. »

Hate messages like this, Sébastien Delorme has received a lot for two years from an admirer as intense as he is disturbed, but skilled with social media. When the star ofIndefensible blocked this fan on Instagram, the latter snuck into the messaging of her 13-year-old daughter and that of her new friend, Pénélope Cordeau, to pour out another torrent of threats, in raw and explicit language.

“I see this guy and I kill him. I see his children and they are dead. I just wish you die my asshole. “Or again:” I see you and I smash my fist in your face, especially since you wear glasses. »

Imagine. You read in your personal mailbox that a groupie wants to liquidate your father or your lover. It is clear that you are panicking. And that’s what happened with the Delormes.

On August 7, 2022, Sébastien Delorme and his spouse filed a complaint, the second in two years, against this hostile admirer, at their neighborhood police station in Montreal. Two days later, the 32-year-old young woman was arrested at her residence in La Prairie and spent a night in prison, before being released. His case will return to the Montreal courthouse on March 15.

According to my information, this diehard fan would not suffer from any mental illness – diagnosed, at least – and would not have committed a violent physical act towards the 52-year-old actor.

The alleged stalker, whom I will rename here Annie, loves stars. She is a star hunter, whom many crowned heads of Quebec showbiz have crossed paths with over the years. Her personal Instagram profile shows her in photos with a bunch of famous people, including Patrice Godin, Vincent-Guillaume Otis and Pierre Bruneau, as well as many players from the Montreal Canadiens, including her favorite, Cole Caufield.

According to court documents, Annie developed an unhealthy obsession with Sébastien Delorme in 2019, at the time of District 31. She then created fan pages on Instagram to get in touch with the actor who camped Stéphane “Poupou” Pouliot. She commented on each of his posts and also followed him on Strava, a mobile app that measures running distances (on foot, by bike, etc.) using GPS.

Detective in her spare time, Annie began to write to Sébastien Delorme’s lover, as well as to the actor’s father, interfering too far in the personal life of the popular interpreter of Léo Macdonald in Indefensible.

Sébastien Delorme did what everyone does when they feel invaded: he banned Annie from his Instagram, followed by 60,400 people. Annie tripped and sent a first series of death threats to the actor and his entourage.

On December 8, 2020, Sébastien Delorme, who was really scared, I am told, filed a complaint with the police. Annie then undertook not to communicate with the actor or his relatives for a year.

But Annie, completely obsessed with Sébastien Delorme, did it again.

From May 2021, Annie reappeared in Sébastien Delorme’s digital world with a fake account, which Delorme ended up blocking, of course. Again, Annie lost the map.

She found Sébastien Delorme’s girlfriend on Facebook and sent her, on August 6, 2022, messages intended for the headliner ofIndefensible.

“Go file a complaint asshole. You’re scared because you know last time it didn’t matter. I hope to ruin your career and I hope you die. I would be so happy if you died. I hope it will happen to you soon, ”wrote Annie, who sent identical threats to the 13-year-old teenager of Sébastien Delorme.

It was Sébastien Delorme’s second complaint that led to Annie’s arrest. In Annie’s Samsung phone, the police recovered numerous photos of the actor and his lover, Pénélope Cordeau.

Annie’s fascination with Sébastien Delorme began a year after he broke up with actress Julie Perreault, with whom he was a couple for almost 20 years.

This story of cyberbullying sounds dangerously like a movie script at the swim fan Or Fatal Attraction. Sébastien Delorme preferred not to comment on it, so as not to attract other crackpots to his platforms.

No wonder many stars close their official Facebook or Instagram pages. These digital tools are transformed into nests for toxic trolls, which spread their venom there.

Social networks are increasingly poisoning the lives of celebrities who use them. Super innocuous posts – like family vacation photos – now generate a trail of unsightly and mean-spirited remarks.

It’s such a shame, because these platforms have been so pleasant to hang out with. Today, what public figure has the taste to wipe off salvoes of vomit by publishing a banal recipe for apple pie? Person. Just moderating comments consumes a huge amount of energy, which is better invested elsewhere.

We feel that the stars here are disengaging from Facebook and Instagram. They are content to relay stuff related to their professional commitments and no longer open the door to their secret garden as they did a few years ago.

And that makes sense 100%. Flat or acidic remarks are tolerated. Death threats, it’s just indefensible.
