Seattle Kraken | Team leading scorer Andre Burakovsky on disabled list

(Newark) The Seattle Kraken placed leading scorer Andre Burakovsky on the injured reserve Thursday with a lower-body injury.


Burakovsky appeared to injure his leg entering enemy territory in the first period of Tuesday night’s game against the New York Islanders. He only played for 31 seconds in a game that ended 4-0 in favor of the New York outfit.

Burakovsky had played 49 of the Kraken’s first 50 games in his first season after joining as a free agent. He leads the Kraken with 39 points (13-26) and averages 16 minutes and 33 seconds of playing time per game — a career high. He is one of six Kraken skaters to break the 30-point mark this season.

The Kraken also removed defenseman Justin Schultz from their injured list ahead of Thursday night’s game against the New Jersey Devils after missing six games with an unspecified injury. .

The Kraken also recalled forward John Hayden from their Coachella Valley American Hockey League academy to add depth to their offensive squad.
