(Seattle) The Seattle Kraken will be without forward Brandon Tanev for the remainder of the season after he suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
Tanev was injured on Dec. 18 against the Edmonton Oilers. He had gone to get a second opinion regarding the severity of his injury.
The Kraken shared the news on Monday and she mentioned that additional information about her recovery will be available following her surgery.
Tanev quickly became a favorite among fans of the expansion team. His season ends with nine goals and six assists. He has scored six goals in the Kraken’s first eight games.
Tanev had been the Kraken’s choice in the expansion draft. He was then with the Pittsburgh Penguins and he is under contract until the end of the 2024-25 season.
The Seattle Troop also placed forward Mason Appleton on NHL COVID-19 protocols, becoming the team’s sixth player on that list. Appleton had trained with his teammates on Sunday.
