Seattle Kraken | Adam Larsson signs four-year contract

(Seattle) Defenseman Adam Larsson signed a four-year contract extension with the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday.

Larsson, one of the Kraken’s top defensemen, will be under contract through the end of the 2028-29 season and will earn $5.25 million per year.

The 31-year-old Swede has played in 245 of the Kraken’s 246 games since joining the NHL in 2021-22. Most of that time, he was paired with Vince Dunn, given the task of stopping the league’s best forwards.

Larsson’s best season in Seattle came in 2022-23, when he had a career-high 33 points. The veteran served as an assistant captain the past two seasons and could be a candidate for captain if new Kraken head coach Dan Bylsma decides to have one in his first campaign behind the team’s bench.

Larsson began his career with the New Jersey Devils, where he played five seasons before being traded to the Edmonton Oilers in 2016.

He spent five seasons in Edmonton, but was unprotected in the expansion draft, allowing the Kraken to select him.
