What does seasonal work in an amusement park look like? During these long summer holidays, a team from France Télévisions is testing out summer jobs.

All summer long, journalist Paul-Luc Monnier plays seasonal worker. This Tuesday, August 13, he looks back on his experience in an amusement park in Isère. The workforce is multiplied by nine during the summer, when 400 seasonal workers are recruited. The France Télévisions journalist is sent to the maintenance technician on a roller coaster. The 20 minutes of daily inspection are difficult and stressful: no room for error.

Before starting work, his partner, Adrien Gordon, 19, took a training course. More than a summer job for him, this job is a career change. “I’d like to stay. It’s a great job,” he confides. In summer, Walibi Park attracts more than 10,000 visitors a day. Seasonal workers don’t have time to laze around. Paul-Luc Monnier is now with Maxence, 19, an attraction operator. Here, the operators are multi-skilled and change positions every hour. Then it’s off to the ice cream parlor.

In total, there are 30 different jobs in the amusement park. Among the advantages, the setting and 5 to 10 free entries, depending on the length of the contract. On the other hand, the pace is intense and the job physical.
