The childhood of art
Still in the Cinema series, director Jérémie Niel tackles Jean Vigo’s classic with a new creation inspired by the film Zero driving. Its synopsis is simple but timeless. In an isolated forest holiday camp, rigidly managed, the sad and gray days follow one another in a vicious spiral of severe and absurd rules, until the children rebel against these codes of conduct. And free themselves from their chains… “An ode to the energy of childhood, to chaos and emancipatory joy,” summarizes the press release.

Make way for variety!
In addition to the expected new creation of the New Experimental Theatre, Tears, In the spring of 2025, Espace Libre’s programming aims to pay tribute to variety shows in the history of Quebec theatre. “These series of acts in various forms, ranging from humour to mime, from dance to magic, from music to sketches, are like gifts to be unwrapped one by one,” writes the season brochure. With this series, on the bill starting in February 2025, the public will be able to encounter “a plurality of disciplines that are both playful and imbued with profound poetry, stage objects that take us out of our everyday lives to create a space where the show performs itself as a show.”
