Season 2021 | Three Alouettes among the stars of the CFL

(Montreal) Three representatives of the Montreal Alouettes have been selected to the all-star team of the Canadian Football League: running back William Stanback, as well as receivers Jake Wieneke and Eugene Lewis.

This is the second selection in as many CFL seasons for Stanback (2019, 2021), who has completely dominated ground play on the Ambrosie Circuit this season. His 1,176 yards allowed him to finish more than 300 yards in front of his closest pursuer, who played one game longer than him.

His 1,290 yards from the scrimmage line are also set to be the top on the Canadian circuit, as are his 193 carries, his average of 6.1 yards per carry and his six games of over 100 rushing yards. He also registered three touchdowns on the ground.

For Wieneke and Lewis, this is a first appointment. Wieneke finished first on the circuit with 11 receiving touchdowns. In his second season in Canada, the 27-year-old finished fifth in the CFL with 898 yards on 56 catches. His average of 15.1 yards per catch puts him in fifth place.

Lewis, meanwhile, flirted with 1,000 receiving yards, ending the season with 964 yards on 62 receptions for third place in the CFL. He also registered nine adults.

With three players selected, the Alouettes rank third in the league, behind the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (11) and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (4).
