Seaska will be fixed next week on the consequences of his appeal against the National Education

The federation of ikastola will be fixed on Monday May 30 or Tuesday May 31 on the consequences of its appeal against the National Education. The first summary appeal filed by Seaska was examined on Monday afternoon by the administrative court in Pau. The federation of immersive schools in the Basque language denounces the ban on students taking their exams in Basque, especially the baccalaureate. However, this was still possible a few years ago, in particular the history-geography and mathematics tests. The use of Basque is even guaranteed by the agreement signed by Seaska, the Ministry and the Public Office of the Basque language.

Coming out of court, Hur Gorostiaga, Seaska’s director, expressed confidence in the decision to be made early next week.

During the hearing, National Education was not represented by a lawyer but by the secretary general of the academic inspection of the department who questioned the legitimacy of the Public Office of the Basque Language in this file. The Ministry of Education itself is however part of the OPLB. After the examination of the summary by the administrative court, the rectorate remained on its position and indicated that it will not make any comment on this affair.
