The Buitoni factory in Caudry is the production site for Fraich’Up frozen pizzas, considered by the health authorities to be the source of several serious cases of contamination of children by the bacterium Escherichia coli (E.coli). The Nestlé Group is the owner of the brand. In a statement, Buitoni asked on March 18 to consumers who have purchased Fraîch’Up frozen pizzas before this date not to consume them and to throw them away.
“This is a step in the investigation. We continue to cooperate fully with the authorities”explains the management of Buitoni to France Bleu Nord, adding once again to bring “his deepest support for the families affected by this tragedy.”
According to the latest report from Public Health France, “50 confirmed cases have been identified” contamination with E. Coli bacteria after eating these Fraich’Up pizzas from Buitoni. Of these 50 infected people, 48 are children. Some were very seriously affected in the kidneys, two died.
