Seaplane crashes in Shawinigan

A seaplane crashed on Sunday afternoon in the Saint-Maurice River in Shawinigan.

According to initial information, the incident occurred around 3:45 p.m. The seaplane-type aircraft cut Hydro-Québec cables in its fall, said Geneviève Gagnon, spokesperson for the Quebec (SQ).

“The fire department came for nautical assistance,” said Ms. Gagnon. Divers from the SQ as well as teams from Hydro-Québec and the Transportation Safety Board of Canada also visited the site.

The operation is still in progress.
