American hip hop megastar Sean Combs, Puff Daddy on stage, and his ex-girlfriend, singer Cassie, have reached an agreement “amicably”a day after she filed a complaint against him for rape and physical violence, American media reported Friday, November 17.
The 37-year-old R&B singer, dancer and model, real name Casandra Ventura, filed a complaint against Sean Combs on Thursday, November 16. The court document describes “sexual violence”“psychological”, of the “deviant behavior” which span more than a decade and accuse Mr. Combs of raping her in 2018. The artist’s New York lawyer, Ben Brafman, “fiercely” denied these allegations, which he described in a statement to AFP as“insulting and scandalous”.
“Some control” for Puff Daddy’s ex-girlfriend
However, the two parties declared on Friday evening that they had agreed to settle the matter amicably without providing further details, reported American media, including the New York Times. “I have decided to settle the matter amicably under conditions which give me some control“Ms. Ventura said in a statement published in American media. “I would like to thank my family, my fans and my lawyers for their unwavering support”she added.
Puff Daddy, 54, confirmed their decision in a separate statement. “I wish Cassie and her family all the best,” he said. According to Ms. Ventura’s testimony, the singer met the hip hop star when she was 19 and he was 37. Sean Combs, alias Diddy on stage, is part of the hip hop billionaires club, also thanks to his business in the alcohol industry.
