“Sea, Salt & Paper”: like a sweet summer scent

This text is part of the special Le Petit D

Game creators never cease to amaze us. With a simple deck of cards, they take you sailing on an ocean of paper!

Do you know origami? It is the Japanese and very zen art of folding, which allows you to make incredible sculptures with a little (a lot) of patience and dexterity, just by folding and folding the same sheet of paper. With its aesthetic inspired by these elegant geometric shapes, Sea, Salt & Paper offers you a card game that is reminiscent of the game of the seven families. Crabs, boats, octopuses, shells and even a few mermaids find themselves shuffled in a pile of cards. Each turn, you add a card to your hand, either from the draw pile or the discard pile. Try to put together certain pairs of cards to trigger their special power: two boats, you take another turn. A shark plus a swimmer, and presto! You steal a card from an opponent’s hand. Other families of cards, such as penguins or anchors, have no immediate power, but the more you have in your hand at the end of the round, the more points they earn you. You will probably need an adult to explain how to play at the beginning: the rules are very simple once understood, but reading them can seem complex at the start. Afterwards, it will only be fun: the games are fast, fun and full of twists and turns. A nice game that we highly recommend to play at any age, with family, as with your friends!
