Director Danièle Thompson, known for having co-written cult screenplays like those of The big mop Where The party, will preside over the 47th Cesar ceremony on February 25, the organizers announced on Tuesday January 25.

To preside over the evening alongside master of ceremonies Antoine de Caunes, the Académie des Césars has chosen the 80-year-old director, a talented pen of popular cinema.

Danièle Thompson is the daughter of Gérard Oury, with whom she worked and wrote comedies that have become cults: The Great Mop, Delusions of Grandeur, Where The Adventures of Rabbi Jacob. We owe him the screenplays of Cousin, Cousin (1975), The Boom (1980) and also Queen Margot by Patrice Chéreau (1994).

Danièle Thompson moved on to directing in 1999 with The log, then Orchestra seats (2006) or even The code has changed (2009), and is working on the production of a television series on Brigitte Bardot’s youth.

The nominations for this 47th edition of the most prestigious French cinema awards are to be announced on Wednesday January 26. After their publication, the 4,363 cinema professionals who are members of the Academy will have one month to vote and decide between them, in 24 categories.

Last year, the Césars crowned comedy Goodbye idiots, by Albert Dupontel.
