It’s been almost two years since Fiji Ruiz announced that she had converted to Islam. One of the best decisions of her life, as she confides on her social networks. But the beginnings were not easy, far from it. “I didn’t tell my parents right away. I waited for them to see my behavior. I’m not going to lie to you, I’m a girl who still has a good basic behavior. They saw that I spoke more and more about religion on social networks, it put a flea in their ears“, she recalls. And then, she later mentioned the subject indirectly: “I started throwing small spades at my parents. I said: ‘Dad, I will marry a Muslim, I know it!’ I was talking about that instead of talking directly about my beliefs, I was hijacking it.“
Finally, the pretty brunette married to rapper Anas, with whom she is living in Dubai, took her courage in both hands. “I announced it on the networks a year later, because I wanted to tell my family first. They are atheists, they could not understand me. In the end they took it very well“, she rejoices. But some moments have been difficult for her: “There were some debates. I cried, because I wasn’t strong enough to get enough lines. I lost all my means, I felt so hurt and misunderstood. It was really tough. I cried with pain, I felt too bad, I told myself that they didn’t understand me and that I would never be able to explain to them. During a debate, there were shouts in the house, it went to peanuts because we did not understand each other at all.“
Bad memories that the beauty, who had her tattoos removed out of religious conviction, has already forgotten. It must be said that her loved ones now see her happy, fulfilled and at peace with herself. “And what matters to them is that I’m happy“, she concludes.
