Scottish cows graze the scrubland

Since the beginning of November, a patch of scrubland has taken on the appearance of Scottish moor. On this natural space, graze about ten cows of the oldest breed of cattle in the world, the Highland Cattle, originating in the north of the United Kingdom. “They are animals that can graze on all very difficult environments”, explains the shepherd François Crémier.

These horn grazers participate in eco-grazing work. Their mission: to gently weed this environment covered by very dense vegetation. An opening for the benefit of other natural species. With their prehistoric allure, Scottish cows are a valuable aid to the program with their limitless appetite. For this project, spread over 50 hectares, the residents of the Bergerie de l’Espiguette (Hérault) will remain on site until next spring.
