A time considered credible outsiders to victory, the Scots look gray. It is a team diminished by a rain of packages which will present itself on Saturday February 25 in Edinburgh to face France on day three of the Six Nations Tournament.

The Scottish FA announced in a statement on Monday (in English) the selection of Kiran McDonald, James Lang, Ollie Smith, Oli Kebble, Simon Berghan and Marshall Sykes to bolster Gregor Townsend’s side in the absence of mainstay Rory Sutherland, touched in the ribs during the defeat against Wales (20-17), and second row Jonny Gray with an ankle injury.

Two other forwards, prop Javan Sebastian and second row Scott Cummings, as well as center three-quarter Cameron Redpath have also left the squad through injury.

“It’s a great opportunity for new players to make a good impression and earn their place in the group that will play the match”, commented GregorTownsend. The latter recovers his third line Josh Bayliss, package during the first two days, due to a concussion, but who replayed and scored a try with Bath this weekend.

The match against the Blues is the last chance for XV du Chardon if he wants to hope to win his first Six Nations Tournament since 1999. The Scots were showered in Wales (17-20), after a narrow victory against England on the first day (20-17).

After two days, France, deprived of Matthieu Jalibert and Gabin Villière, acts as the favorite. They are the only team still capable of achieving the Grand Slam and winning a competition that has eluded them since 2010.
