No problem for Scotland. The Chardon XV largely won, Saturday September 30, against a sadly record-breaking Romania in Lille (84-0). With no less than 12 tries conceded, the Oaks – already beaten 82-8 by Ireland and 76-0 by South Africa in this World Cup – have, after only three matches, already signed the worst defensive record in their history at the World Cup (242 points taken, compared to 192 in 2003).

For their part, the Scots retained a chance of finishing in one of the first two places in Group B. Helped by the indiscipline of the Romanians who received three yellow cards, they were able to line up the points. Winger Darcy Graham scored a quadruple (21′, 34′, 40′, 78′) while fly-half Ben Healy did not make the slightest mistake against the poles. If South Africa wins against Tonga as expected on Sunday, Gregor Townsend’s men will have to win against the Irish next weekend to reach the quarter-finals.
