CO2 emissions continue to grow. Scientists who carried out a study are sounding the alarm on Friday, November 11, in the midst of COP27.
Slowly, carbon dioxide emissions continue to rise. These are the conclusions of scientists from the University of Exeter, England, who warn of the consequences of this pollution. “If we continue to emit the same amount of CO2 every year for the next nine years, we will use up the entire carbon budget. So there will be a 50% chance of reaching 1.5°C more by then,” explains Pierre Friedlinstein, head of the study.
Referring to several recent decisions in the United States and Brazil, former American vice-president Al Gore and climate activist for many years, nevertheless believes that there is hope. Because while carbon pollution continues to increase, it is not increasing as rapidly as 10 or 15 years ago. But the CO2 emission peak is yet to come.
