The movement in support of the Palestinian people, which Sciences Po Paris had initiated, extends to many French cities, in different schools and universities.
Thursday May 2, students at Paul-Valéry University in Montpellier (Hérault) blocked access to their campus in support of Palestine. They denounce their faculty’s partnerships with Israeli establishments and defend themselves against any anti-Semitism. “We are not anti-Semitic, we are anti-Zionist. We are against colonization, we are against massacre and apartheid“explain a student.
A debate organized at Sciences Po Paris
Blockages are increasing in French universities. In Lille (North), students are also blocking access to the journalism school. At Sciences Po Paris, where the movement started, management organized a debate between students, professors and employees on Thursday morning to try to calm things down. “It was a tough debate, with fairly clear positions and a lot of emotion. I now hope that everyone will find calm again“, said Jean Bassères, school administrator.
