The Fête de la science begins on Saturday October 8 and will last until October 17. In Deux-Sèvres, primary school pupils went to the CNRS in Chizé. For them, it’s a way of learning from contact with scientists in an original way.

Elementary school students could never have imagined one day handling snakes. The experiment was made possible thanks to the Fête de la science, with a day spent at the CNRS in Chizé (Deux-Sèvres), in order to slip into the shoes of a scientist and learn a lot of things. “At first I was a little scared of snakes, but now I’m not scared of snakes anymore because I know they’re nice”testifies Léa, student in CM2.

In all, there are fifteen workshops to discover. For the next step, you have to wear a white coat. The goal is to extract DNA from a banana. For the CNRS, the objective is to create vocations among the youngest. Another workshop: learn to identify birds. The Fête de la science takes place all over France for ten days. It will therefore be held until October 17.
