Saturday June 17, the 12/13 set off to discover an extraordinary expedition in the Southern Alps, in which dozens of schoolchildren took part. An immersion in the heart of nature in a mountainous landscape.

They may live in the mountains, but climbing remains an adventure for these students. And as in any adventure, there are some difficulties to overcome. “I have pain in my shoulders, feet and legs. And I’m hungry”, said a young girl. Fortunately, the 400 meters of elevation to climb are dotted with many mountain curiosities. Here, we learn to look, we sometimes discover a new world. “The fact of being immersed like this for two days in nature, I think it’s a chance to offer them, so that they also learn to know better this nature close to home”says Maud Coursier, teacher in Monêtier-les-Bains (Hautes-Alpes).

pass values

These outings are supported by the French Alpine Club, which has been accompanying and training the children for several weeks. A program imagined by a former teacher. It is “to pass on to them some values that we sometimes have in the programs, and which are not so easy to pass on to children, like reading a map”says Laurence Audrain, volunteer at the French Alpine Club of Briançon (High mountains)in charge of the Refuges Phares project.
