Teaching: school teachers will be able to prepare for their profession directly after the baccalaureate
(France 2)
In order to compensate for the lack of applications to become school teachers, the President of the Republic announced that they will now prepare for their profession directly after the baccalaureate, with a specialized license.
Make the teaching profession more attractive. Thanks to this reform, recruitment will be at bac +3 level and no longer bac +5. A student will be able to take the competitive exam from the undergraduate level, then be admitted to master 1 and 2. According to the teaching unions, the level of recruitment could drop. “If they are demanding events, the level will be good”explains the president of the SNALC, Jean-Rémi Girard.
Paid training
Another new feature: a professional master’s degree, with internships from the start. Future teachers may be paid. This could be 1,400 euros net per month for the first year, 1,800 for master 2. A specific license will be created. It will be intended for future nursery or primary school teachers. Not necessarily a good solution according to the unions, who denounce a discounted license. This year, more than 3,100 faculty positions have not been filled. This reform should come into force next year.
