The homeless in the city of Angers gathered for a festive meal, organized by young people dropping out of school. A real moment of sharing.

From the installation to the preparation of the meal, young people went out of their way to offer a banquet to the homeless in Angers (Maine-et-Loire). On the menu, pumpkin soup, shepherd’s pie and chocolate fondant. “Frankly it gives me joy, because it’s been a long time since I ate hot stuff like that”, says Manka, homeless. “Having this spirit of solidarity creates a certain communion with the people of the street”, adds Philippe, also homeless.

The meal is the culmination of an action carried out for several months. The sale of serigraphs made it possible to purchase foodstuffs, distributed to the homeless during marauding. The team did not want to stop there, however. Today, Mickail, 16, says to himself “proud to have helped so many people”. Young people, breaking away from the school system, are supported by AFPA Angers. They found new impetus in the initiative. “It really invites them to get moving, to life, explains Sébastien Marchal, monitor and educator at AFPA Angers. (…) We have young people here who have been doing nothing for several weeks, several years, and who today find themselves alive and taking part in this project. ”
