School confined due to threats in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu | Suspect arrested

A suspect was arrested Thursday afternoon in connection with the preventive confinement of a secondary school in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu.

Around 12:30 p.m., the Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu police were informed of threats made to a person who was inside the Chanoine-Armand-Racicot high school.

As a preventive measure, the police department proceeded to confine the school. No one was allowed to enter or leave the establishment, reported officer Isabelle Poirier.

A large security perimeter has also been erected around the multipurpose school located on Boulevard de Normandie.

Later in the afternoon, a suspect was arrested in connection with this case. Neither the tenor of the threats nor the nature of the suspect’s connection with the school were not specified.

“The school was searched from top to bottom. All the people who are on the spot are safe, ”assured Mr.me Pear tree.

The security perimeter will be lifted shortly and the investigation is continuing, said the Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu police.
