Scandifornia | At the junction of North and West

Scandinavian and Californian trends draw their inspiration from opposing sources: on the one hand, cold, snowy plains that invite you to bundle up; on the other, palm trees waving under a radiant sun. We could fear a clash of the poles, but this is not the case: North and West are merging with the new Scandinavian trend, which unites Scandinavian hygge with Californian coolness.

In this happy marriage, one tempers the other. The sobriety and rigor of Nordic design – with its blond woods, clean lines and neutral tones – warms up under the influence of sunny seasides and deserts. Walnut species, leather and rattan accents as well as warm tones (terracotta, caramel and orange) appear there, as do art and craft objects with a more rustic and bohemian character.

The result is minimalist, but warm. Funky, but functional. Both organized and relaxed. Mobilia is heading on trend with its new spring collection and it is in a Scandifornian setting that Plural, the largest contemporary art fair, is set up in its city center boutique until April 28 with the works of four local artists.
