Be careful if you are in the mountains. Météo France has placed, Tuesday December 28, lin Savoie and Haute-Savoie in orange vigilance for avalanche risk. The two departments are faced with avalanche activity “observed on average two to three times per winter in the massifs”, writes the forecaster in his bulletin published at 4 p.m..

“An active disturbance brings snow to the departments concerned from 1 800-2000 meters” altitude, specifies Météo France. Snowfall will continue and intensify throughout the night from Tuesday to Wednesday. After a short-term lull at the end of the night, the precipitation will intensify again from Wednesday morning, “accompanied by a very clear warmth, with rain up to 2,700 meters”.

Many wet snow avalanches will be triggered Wednesday with the return of the rain. These avalanches can reach “exposed road sectors as well as mountain infrastructures”, warns Météo France.
