A little respite for the Yemenis. The Saudi-led coalition announced on Tuesday (March 29) the cessation of military operations during the fasting month of Ramadan from Wednesday, March 30. “The coalition hereby announces the cessation of military operations in Yemen from 6 a.m. (5 a.m. Paris time) Wednesday, March 30, 2022”writes the coltation that supports the Yemeni government against the Houthi rebels, in a statement published by the Saudi Press Agency.

This ceasefire is intended to provide “the enabling conditions necessary for the success of the consultations [yéménites] and an enabling environment for the holy month of Ramadan to make peace, and achieve security and stability in Yemen”added the coalition command in its press release.

The Houthi rebels, after carrying out sixteen attacks against the kingdom on Friday, announced a three-day unilateral truce on Saturday. The insurgents, backed by Iran, have proposed that this truce become “permed” if Ryad raised the “blockade” over Yemen, ceased its air raids and withdrew its “strengths” of the country at war since 2014.
