Saudi Arabia launched a military operation on Saturday, December 25 “in large scale” in Yemen, after two people were killed and seven injured on Friday evening. It is the first fatal attack attributed to the Houthi rebels in the Saudi kingdom in more than three years. The kingdom’s civil defense announced that two people, including a Saudi and a Yemeni, were killed in the attack, in the Saudi region of Jazan, bordering Yemen. “A projectile fell on a commercial building (…) It injured seven civilians, including six Saudis and a Bangladeshi resident”, says an official Saudi statement.

Since 2015, the Saudi kingdom has intervened in Yemen, at the head of a coalition to support the government forces, at war for seven years against the Houthi rebels. The latter, close to Iran, often strike Saudi territory from Yemen.
