Saturday in the NHL | Rangers win 7-4 against Bruins

Jimmy Vesey gave New York the lead late in the second period, Chris Kreider scored twice and Jonathan Quick stopped 27 shots for the Rangers, who beat the Boston Bruins 7-4 on Saturday afternoon.

Vesey scored his fourth goal of the year, at 16:37 of play, while the Bruins had a delayed penalty. His goal gave the Rangers the lead, who have won seven of their last eight games.

Kreider scored one goal on the power play and another on the penalty kill. He leads his team in goals, with 13.

Nick Bonino, K’Andre Miller, Tyler Pitlick and Artemi Panarin also found the back of the net for the Rangers. Vincent Trocheck collected two assists.

Quick, who signed with the Rangers this summer as a free agent, improved to 6-0-1 this season.

Charlie Coyle scored twice for the Bruins, who lost 5-2 the day before to the Detroit Red Wings. Morgan Geekie and David Pastrnak also hit the target.

Bonino opened the scoring with his first goal in a Rangers uniform. Kreider doubled his team’s lead at 15:56, scoring his 99e career net on the power play.

The Bruins got their first shot on net in the game after more than 13 minutes of play. However, they scored two quick goals afterwards to tie the game.

Kreider scored shorthanded to give the Rangers a goal back with 1:19 left in the first period.

Pastrnak made it 3-3 on the power play, just 26 seconds into the second period.
