The Kraken win 4-1 ahead of the Panthers

Chris Driedger made 33 saves and the Seattle Kraken beat the Panthers 4-1 on Saturday, robbing Florida of what would have been a 12th straight win at Sunrise.

It would have set a record for the best start to the home season in NHL history.

The Chicago Blackhawks also won their first 11 home games of a season (1963-64).

Jordan Eberle scored twice in his 800th meeting on the circuit.

Ryan Donato and Jamie Oleksiak also scored for the Kraken, while Joonas Donskoi provided two assists.

Patric Hornqvist beat Driedger, while Spencer Knight made 23 saves.

Eberle hit the target on the power play in the third minute of the game. He also scored early in the third period.

Donato broke the deadlock halfway in the first third.

Joe Thornton of the Panthers amassed a 1,532nd point, overtaking Paul Coffey for 13th in league scoring.

Thornton is at the top of the scorers among active players. He lacks a point to join Mark Recchi in 12th place.

Injured knee, Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov missed a fifth game in a row.

His teammate Anthony Duclair was absent for a second straight game (lower body).
