Damon Severson gives the Devils the win

Damon Severson scored at 2:47 in overtime on Saturday to give the New Jersey Devils a 4-3 win over the New York Rangers.

Keeping the puck in a two-on-one with Nico Hischier, Severson went there with a wrist shot that ended the debate.

Jack Hughes scored twice, hitting the target in a fifth game in a row.

Hughes was also an accomplice to Jesper Bratt’s goal on the power play.

Vitek Vanecek made 31 saves for the Devils, who had lost their last eight games at home.

Julien Gauthier got his sixth goal for the Rangers.

Alexis Lafrenière was part of Jimmy Vesey’s goal, while the other Rangers net came from Chris Kreider.

Igor Shesterkin blocked 39 shots for the New Yorkers, who were looking for a fourth straight win.
