The bronchiolitis epidemic won almost the entire territory on Saturday, October 22, and is causing an overload of pediatric emergencies. Health professionals are alerting to the situation, once again, and denouncing the endangerment of children.

The peak of the bronchiolitis epidemic is not yet reached but already the hospital caregivers are sounding the alarm. Throughout France, many pediatric services are saturated. At Necker Hospital (Paris)as in the whole of Île-de-France, 15 to 20% pediatric beds are closed due to lack of staff, which threatens the health of children. All care is delayed, staggered, we endanger the quality of life of these children“, denounces Doctor Isabelle Desguerredepartment head at Necker.

For doctors, it is the result of a crisis in vocations, especially among doctors and nurses. In an open letter addressed to Emmanuel Macron, more than 5000 signatories, caregivers and parents, denounce “the abandonment of the public hospital”. In response, the Ministry of Health evokes an epidemic of bronchiolitis which arrived earlier than usual. Yet, according to the figures, the trend seems to be the same than last year.
