Sarthe: Edith and Maurice celebrate 75 years of marriage

To Duneau (Sarthe)Edith and Maurice are celebrating their Alabaster wedding, that is to say their 75 years of marriage. What create the event in the town. “One day, I was at the ball and then I had to sleep at my grandmother’s (…). Since then, it has always continued and we have never left each other”explains Edith. They shared everything, including their worries as farmers, a job that Maurice would have preferred not to do. So he always knew how to devote time to his passion: The Accordion.

So inevitably, the couple has plenty of memories in mind, memories of another era. “We went in the evening, which we called the vigil, after supper, at each other’s house. That was the distraction. We went until around midnight. We had a bite to eat before returning. It was not the same life as today”reports Edith. The secret of a long marriage is also health and the moral. At 99, Maurice looks at the photos memory without glasses and Edith, 93, kept her good mood. What Maurice has liked about Edith from the start is the fact that she has “all the time smile”.
