Sarlat is the medieval city with the highest density of historical monuments classified or registered in France. The Manoir de Gisson is the only one you can enter.
Made up of 2 buildings of distinct architecture linked to each other by a hexagonal staircase tower, the origins of this monument date back to the 13th century. Its nobility tower, its mullioned windows, its lauze roofs, its very singular bay with small columns surmounted by oculus and its facades flanked by decorated portals ennoble this building.
Behind these facades, you will discover the everyday life of the Sarladaise nobility and in particular of the Gisson family. They will be Consul of the city, royal notary, lawyer, knight of the Order of Saint-Louis, Captain of Dragons.
The restoration of each space has been the subject of great care, to faithfully restore the atmosphere and daily life of the Sarladaise nobility in the 17th century.
In the rest of our podcastGéraldine Mayr tells you about La Canéda, Place du Peyrou, the Lantern of the Dead, the salamander and the old Sainte-Marie Church.
