Sandrine Quétier cash on Camille Combal on “Dancing with the Stars”: “We respected the codes of the show”

From 2011 to 2017, Sandrine Quétier co-hosted the first eight editions of Dance with the stars. The former host teamed up with Vincent Cerutti for the first five seasons, then with Laurent Ournac for the next two. She hosted season 8 with all the flagship presenters of TF1, who spoke to her. This is the case of Jean-Luc Reichmann, Nikos Aliagas, Arthur, Laurence Boccolini, Christophe Dechavanne, Jean-Pierre Foucault, by Carole Rousseau, by Christophe Beaugrand or by Karine Ferri and Denis Brogniart. She finally decided to hang up in December 2017, to begin a career as an actress, and was replaced by Camille Combal and Karine Ferri. The latter animated seasons 8 to 11, while Camille Combal now hosts the show alone.

In an interview given to Jade and Éric Dussart on RTL in We’re doing TV again, and who will be found this Saturday March 16, 2024 on our airwaves, Sandrine Quétier is more frank than ever about the opinion she has of the animation style of her successor. If she recognizes him as a real talent, the host seems to regret that production leaves freedoms to the latter, to which it has never been entitled : “It was a program which was co-produced with the BBC and which had very precise codes. So we respected the codes of the show: ballroom dancing, red curtains, big dresses” she explained. A very precise framework, from which Camille Combal has moved away, who runs the show without worrying about the teleprompter and the headset, even though Sandrine Quétier paid close attention to it at the time.

A show that was too “starchy” for its time?

“It was a little starchier.”recognized Sandrine Quétier, who however indicated that Camille Combal was doing the job, and the audiences demonstrate it. Indeed, the launch of season 13 was a great success, and audiences are clearly improving over a year. Evoking a potential participation in the program as a candidate as were the three other hosts of the program Karine Ferri, Vincent Cerutti and Laurent Ournac, Sandrine Quétier was categorical: “Never !” And to explain in more detail the reasons for this outright refusal: “I know too well what they endure, our candidates. I see them. I went to see them in rehearsals. They suffer ! They have their lives on hold. The participants rehearse for long hours every day, there is a regularity, we put our lives aside a little, we don’t do much else. Never, I do that!”
