Toulouse, 2nd in Ligue 2, was sanctioned on Wednesday January 12 by the withdrawal of a suspended point because of the racist insults uttered by one of his supporters against the Rodez goalkeeper during the match between the two clubs on December 13, a announced the LFP.

Lionel Mpasi, the goalkeeper of the Rodez football club, had been targeted by racist remarks at the end of the match, while Rodez had just equalized (final score 1-1). In a statement, the Toulouse Football Club had apologized to the player, denounced the attitude of the supporter and promised a sanction.

After examining the case, the disciplinary committee of the Professional Football League therefore withdrew a suspended point in Toulouse, runner-up to Ajaccio in the Ligue 2 standings with 37 points, against 38 at the Corsican club.

“The Toulouse Football Club, having shown rigor and flawless exemplarity throughout the investigation, deplores the decision rendered today by the Disciplinary Commission of the LFP which appears disproportionate and unfair, and which sees an isolated act penalize an entire community, reacted the “TEF” by the voice of a press release. The club reserves the right to appeal.

Also in Ligue 2, the disciplinary committee announced that it was investigating the case also concerning racist insults attributed to supporters of SC Bastia during the meeting against Quevilly-Rouen on January 8.

In Ligue 1, Saint-Etienne was given a suspended total lock-up for the use of pyrotechnic devices by his supporters during the match against Nantes on December 22.
