San Diego Padres | Pitcher Dylan Cease has no-hitter

(Washington) San Diego Padres pitcher Dylan Cease threw a no-hitter in a 3-0 victory over the Washington Nationals on Thursday afternoon.


Cease threw 114 pitches and struck out nine batters en route to the victory.

He entered the game with two complete games in 144 career major league starts: he allowed three hits in the seventh inning against the Detroit Tigers on April 29, 2021, and one hit in the ninth inning against the Minnesota Twins on Sept. 3, 2022 – Luis Arraez then singled to right-center field with two outs in the ninth.

He threw 113 shots in seven innings of work against the Chicago White Sox on May 8, tying his career high. A record he has just surpassed.

The Padres took a 3-0 lead after Ha-Seong Kim’s three-run single in the first inning.

Before Cease, Houston Astros pitcher Ronel Blanco was the only person to throw a no-hitter this season, on November 1er April against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Joe Musgrove was the only Padres pitcher to throw a no-hitter in franchise history on April 9, 2021.
