The board of directors of Samuel Paty’s college voted on Monday, September 23, to rename the establishment in the name of the murdered teacher, France Inter learned from the educational community. Information confirmed by the mayor of Conflans-Sainte-Honorine Laurent Brosse sur X, who salutes “a strong symbol” almost four years after the teacher’s murder.
Until then, parents, students and teachers were not in favour of it, explains France Inter. The trauma was still very present. But, as the last generation of middle school students who were able to know Samuel Paty entered high school, the choice finally became obvious.
The college has not yet been officially renamed, says Laurent Brosse on X. The municipal council must still ratify the change, as must the Yvelines departmental council. This will only be a formality.
