Samsung to Launch 83-Inch QD-OLED S95F TV Model in 2025

OLED televisions feature two main technologies: White-OLED from LG Display and QD-OLED from Samsung Display. Samsung plans to release 83-inch QD-OLED models in 2025 to meet growing consumer demand for larger screens. This move enhances their premium market presence as QD-OLED combines quantum dot technology with traditional OLED benefits. Additionally, Samsung will introduce two variants of its upcoming TVs, using either White-OLED or QD-OLED, with potential regional differences in availability. CES 2025 will showcase these new models.

Understanding OLED Television Technologies

When discussing OLED televisions, it’s essential to recognize the two distinct technologies available today: White-OLED, often referred to as the “historical” technology developed by LG Display, and QD-OLED, produced by Samsung Display. Both companies supply their panels to affiliated brands, LG Electronics and Samsung Electronics, as well as to other notable manufacturers such as Philips, Sony, and Panasonic. LG Display offers a wide range of OLED panel sizes, from 42 to 97 inches, while Samsung Display currently provides sizes of 55, 65, and 77 inches. However, there are indications that this selection may broaden as early as next year.

Upcoming 83-Inch QD-OLED TVs in 2025

Samsung Display is set to enhance its QD-OLED (Quantum Dot OLED) technology with the introduction of 83-inch screens anticipated in 2025. This planned expansion, noted in discussions on Reddit, is a proactive response to the increasing consumer demand for larger televisions. By doing so, Samsung Display aims to solidify its position in the premium display market.

The addition of this new size is part of a broader diversification strategy. Current models like the Samsung S95D and Sony A95L have showcased impressive performance, earning their places among the top TVs available. QD-OLED technology is particularly noteworthy for its unique ability to merge the benefits of quantum dots with traditional OLED panels. This innovative blend results in superior color accuracy and the deep blacks characteristic of OLED, while also achieving high brightness levels.

The introduction of an 83-inch model will offer consumers another option for a truly immersive viewing experience.

Future Samsung OLED TV Variants

Looking ahead, Samsung intends to introduce two technological variants for its upcoming TVs, similar to its approach with the 2024 series, specifically the S90D models that combine White-OLED and QD-OLED panels based on size. The first variant, identified by the code “FAE,” will utilize WOLED (White-OLED) technology, while the second, labeled “FAT,” will incorporate QD-OLED technology. Samsung’s spare parts database has already revealed references for the 83-inch models: “QE83S95FAE” and “QE83S95FAT.” This indicates that the new high-end Samsung OLED TV lineup will not follow the expected S95E naming convention, but instead will be designated as the S95F series.

Moreover, these references suggest that certain markets may receive 83-inch models with QD-OLED panels, while others might get versions with White-OLED panels, all within the same series. Unlike the S90D series, where panel type could be determined by size, this new approach could lead to variations depending on the region, potentially causing some consumer confusion.

Interestingly, this shift could also present opportunities for Sony, which has not refreshed its A95 series in 2024 and is instead offering the Bravia 8 series with White-OLED panels. The Japanese manufacturer may incorporate the new 83-inch QD-OLED panels into its 2025 lineup.

The official unveiling of these new models is set to take place at CES 2025, scheduled to occur in Las Vegas starting January 6. We will be on-site to report on the latest announcements from various brands.
