The CA Brive team has just acquired a new player from the Wellington Lions: Tietie Tuimauga. The 29-year-old player (1m88, 125kg) joins the Brive squad with immediate effect to compensate for the absence of several months of Luka Japaridze.
A medical joker
Didier Faugeron, CA Brive sports coordinators, explain this choice : “Luka Japaridze’s long-term injury as well as the anticipation of Pietro Ceccarelli’s selection has led us to look for a prop wildcard. Tietie has just won the New Zealand Championship, he can play left and right of the melee which will bring us more solutions to the front line.”
Xavier Ric, the General Manager of the club, adds for his part: “After the arrival of Mesulame, we are delighted to welcome Tietie among us. Coveted by several clubs, he has chosen to take up the Brive challenge to help us move up the rankings as quickly as possible”.
New Zealand-educated international player
A Samoan international, Tietie Tuimauga was trained in New Zealand where he wore the colors of Wellington (2018 and 2022) and Manawatu (2020 and 2021).
In 2021, he joined Connacht during the season to compensate for the injury of Denis Buckley. He will make 10 appearances playing 7 United Rugby Championship matches and 3 Champions Cup matches.
Back in Wellington this summer, Tietie Tuimauga won the New Zealand Provinces Championship last weekend (National Provincial Championship) against Canterbury.
Tietie Tuimauga arrived this Sunday in Corrèze. He will join his teammates this Monday morning at the Performance Center.
