After premature elimination in Koh-Lanta, the island of heroes in 2020, Sam made a comeback in Koh-Lanta, The Legend. He who dreamed of going to the end of this adventure, of reaching the posts, was finally eliminated at the gates of the orientation. The “young padawan“as Moussa called him last year saw his dream be shattered. But he quits Koh Lanta memories full of memories. In interview for Purepeople.com, Sam indulges in this second crazy experience, evoking his elimination but also his impressive weight loss, his relationship with Teheiura or social networks.
How did you feel when you were eliminated from the immunity test?
I was very sad to go out at that point as it is the day before the orienteering race and there really wasn’t much left until the adventure was over. What worked against me was the logic and the fact that I couldn’t concentrate because of the stress. I failed to keep my cool. There was all the stress of the beginning of the adventure which is also long. It all served me well.
What went through your mind when you landed on the Isle of the Outcast?
I was very happy and amazed because I did not expect to have a second chance. However, I knew there would be a tough road ahead before I could get back into the game.
What was your state of mind there?
A spirit of revenge on myself. I wanted to get back into the game and hoped to get to the posts.
Before your elimination from the camp, you were surprised by your reflection in the mirror, what did you say to yourself?
This is the first time that I have seen myself so thin. It is true that all the other adventurers had already gone almost to the end of the game during their previous adventures. For me it was the first time I had gone this far and what I saw was shocking.
Why did you refuse to step on the scale?
It was not to hurt my morale. There weren’t many adventure days left and I thought it was a shame to affect morale and hurt him a bit when we had to stay focused. It was so as not to be further destabilized.
During this second season of Koh Lanta, you seem more at ease socially and less at ease in the tests … How do you explain it?
In front of me I had seasoned adventurers and they knew how to put me at ease. They were all older than me. For some I was a bit like the little brother, or even the child. I got along with everyone, really, and I’m happy with it. It’s a source of pride somewhere because I didn’t get tangled up with anyone. Regarding the events, the level was much higher than the last time and I felt tired. Everything was harder, already at the level of survival I suffered from the lack of food, like everyone else, but it particularly affected me. You should also know that all the tests had an additional difficulty since it was the 20 years of Koh Lanta.
Did you find it difficult to impose yourself against the “old ones”?
No. If we take the example of the construction of the raft and the fact that I did not impose myself against Claude, it is because I am 20 years old, he is 40 years old, he has more experience than me. It would have been someone else who did not know anything about it like in my first season I would not have asked myself the question.
You confided in an interview that Teheiura “maintained a certain distance” after reunification. Why do you think?
I didn’t really say that, it was amplified by the media. I will be very clear. I spent all of my early adventure with Claude since I was in his team. I found Teheiura at reunification but he left very quickly. When I say that he kept a certain distance, it is because we did not rub shoulders for a long time and he left very quickly.
On social networks, some threaten candidates with death and insult them. What do you think about that ?
I think it sucks to insult and threaten because it’s still a game. When the show ends, viewers really have to get out of the adventure. It’s a show that’s made to entertain, it’s not something real. Koh Lanta is a game.
Conversely, some receive declarations of love! Is this your case?
Good question (he laughs). No, well maybe from anonymous people. There are lots of people who tell you that they love you or that you are a good person, but otherwise no.
What would you have done with the 100,000 euros if you had won?
I went on this adventure to win the posts. No adventurer thinks of 100,000 euros before arriving at the posts because we are really in the present moment. I think I would have put them aside and kept them toasty for a while.
Among the three finalists, who do you think will win this Koh-Lanta, La Légende?
I have a preference but I prefer to keep it to myself because the count has not yet taken place, that will leave a little suspense.
