Salmonella: poppy seeds subject to a recall

Canadian company Puresource Natural Products is recalling Inari brand Organic Blue Poppy Seeds from the marketplace due to possible Salmonella contamination.

The recalled products have been sold across most of the country, from British Columbia to Nova Scotia, Ontario and Quebec.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) indicates that three 250 g batches are affected by this recall in effect since Monday.

The recalled products should be discarded or returned to the establishment where they were purchased, the federal agency said, calling for people to avoid their consumption.

“Salmonellosis can lead to long-term complications, including a severe form of arthritis,” the CFIA warned in its statement.
