Salim Berrada, nicknamed the “Tinder rapist”, continues to proclaim his innocence: he appealed, Thursday April 4, his sentence to 18 years in prison for rape and sexual assault by the Paris criminal court, franceinfo learned from from one of his lawyers, Ambroise Vienet-Legué, confirming information from RTL. This time he will be tried before an assize court, with a popular jury.

The man who presented himself as an amateur photographer was found guilty, on March 29, of twelve rapes and three sexual assaults against women he met on dating sites and social networks, between 2014 and 2016. Salim Berrada, from Moroccan nationality, was also required to leave French territory permanently at the end of his prison sentence.

Still targeted by a second indictment

The court held the “particularly organized character” facts, a “proven operating procedure” and the “serial nature of these crimes and offenses”judge “particularly worrying”as “the multiplication of the number of victims” in a time “shorter and shorter”particularly in 2016, explained the president, Thierry Fusina.

He was acquitted of the facts alleged by two other women, the court considering that the evidence was lacking and that “the doubt” should benefit him.

The 38-year-old man is also indicted for similar acts allegedly committed in 2019 when he had just been released in this case, after two and a half years of pre-trial detention.
