According to franceinfo information, the most closely watched detainee in France, Salah Abdeslam, tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday, December 27. This contamination is able to upset the program of the trial of the November 13 attacks which is to resume on Tuesday January 4 with the questioning of the accused, including the Franco-Belgian terrorist who is to be heard on January 13.
Salah Abdeslam’s state of health is not cause for concern at this stage, but if the only surviving member of the November 13 commandos is still positive for Covid-19 next week and that he cannot attend the resumption of the hearing, his lawyers may request a postponement. They have so far not responded to requests from franceinfo.
This had for example been the case at the trial of the Charlie Hebdo, Hyper Cacher and Montrouge attacks, suspended for a month, when the main accused Ali Riza Polat had contracted the Covid-19.
Salah Abdeslam tested positive Monday at 4 p.m., while building D3 of Fleury-Mérogis prison (Essonne) where he is in solitary confinement is hit by a cluster. This information was given to the prison wardens on Tuesday, December 28. It will be tested again on Monday, the day before the resumption of hearing.
